Local Dance Group Kicks Off Back to School with a Hip Hop Workout
Culture Shock Las Vegas, a non-profit hip hop dance company and youth outreach program, will hold its annual “Back to School Jam,” on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. at The Dance Factor 7925 W Sahara Ave #101 Las Vegas, NV 89117. Cost to participate in this one-of-a-kind event is $5 and scholarships are available. Thanks to a grant from Speedway Children’s Charities and Insomniac.
The event was created with the goal of increasing the awareness of hip hop/street dance as a form of exercise among children, ages 7-17, and to kick-off the new school year with messages that provide them with alternatives to getting involved in gangs, drugs and other mischievous activities.
Participants of the Back to School Jam will experience a playful, calorie-burning set of moves based on street dance and music of today’s pop culture. The fun will be heightened with instruction from some of pop artist’s renowned video choreographers, dancers, and troupe members of Culture Shock Las Vegas. Participants will also receive some back-to-school supplies and other give-a-ways to show Culture Shocks commitment to helping the youth of Las Vegas.
Culture Shock Las Vegas is comprised of voluntary children and young adults who use hip hop/street dance to help steer young people away from drugs, violence, and hatred, into a lifestyle that promotes acceptance, achievement and self-confidence.
